Construction begins to add new Carpool Lane to 101
On April 30 a groundbreaking event was held to mark the beginning of construction to add a commute-hour carpool lane to Highway 101 between Mussel Shoals and Carpinteria. The project will take three years to complete and will result in an expansion of the freeway to three lanes in both directions, with the new lane open to high occupancy vehicles (carpools, vanpools, and buses) during commute hours. Public Meetings Held on Carpool Lane Project Between Carpinteria and Santa Barbara
On April 24 and 25 Caltrans held public meetings in Montecito and Summerland on the Environmental Impact Report for the freeway construction project to add a carpool lane to US 101 between Carpinteria and Santa Barbara. Caltrans is taking comment through May 25. Learn more
